Features
Notch Island: your clipboard in the MacBook notch
What Notch Island shows
- A preview of each copy. When you copy text, a link, a colour code or an image, the notch opens for a moment and shows what was saved, then closes again.
- Your paste queue. With the Universal Paste Queue on, each item you copy joins the queue in the notch, with a count of how many are waiting and which one is next.
- Auto-delete countdowns. When a clip has an auto-disappear timer, the time left stays visible beside the notch and turns red for its last seconds.
- Recent clips on hover. Move the pointer to the notch to open a panel with your newest clips.
Use the hover panel
- Move the pointer up to the notch. The panel opens with your four newest clips.
- Click a clip to copy it again. The clip shows Copied.
- Paste as usual with Cmd+V.
The bottom row of the panel has switches for Queue (the paste queue) and Capture (pause or resume saving copies), the running timers, how many clips you copied today, and a button to open the dashboard. The gear opens Settings.
Which Macs it works on
Notch Island appears on the built-in display of a Mac that has a notch: MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch from 2021, and MacBook Air from the M2 models on. It does not appear on external displays, on Macs without a notch, or on Windows and Linux. On those, the setting is hidden and the rest of Pastily works the same.
Turn Notch Island on or off
Use either of these:
- Open Settings → General and switch Notch Island on or off.
- Click the Pastily menu bar icon and choose Notch Island under Control.
Turning it off closes everything the island is showing at once. Your clipboard history keeps working as before.
Privacy
The island only draws on your own screen. Like the rest of Pastily, it works offline and sends nothing anywhere. If you share your screen and copy something private, the preview is visible in the notch for a moment, so turn Notch Island off first.
Common questions
What is Notch Island in Pastily?
A small panel in the MacBook notch that shows a preview of each thing you copy, your paste queue and auto-delete countdowns, and opens your recent clips when you move the pointer to the notch. It is new in Pastily 2.2.
Does Notch Island work on a Mac without a notch, or on Windows?
No. It needs a Mac whose built-in display has a notch. On other Macs, external displays, Windows and Linux the setting is hidden and Pastily works as usual.
How do I turn off Notch Island?
Open Settings → General and switch Notch Island off, or click the Pastily menu bar icon and choose Notch Island under Control.

How to copy and paste multiple items in order
Turn on Universal Paste in Pastily, copy each item you need, then press Cmd+Shift+V on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+V on Windows and Linux. Each press pastes the next item in the order you copied it, so you can fill a form or a spreadsheet without switching windows again and again.
Privacy, offline storage and auto-expiring clips
Pastily stores your clipboard history in a local database on your own computer. There is no account and no cloud sync, so your clips are never uploaded. For sensitive clips such as passwords, set an auto-expire timer of up to 24 hours and the clip deletes itself.
How to install Pastily on Mac
Download the Pastily .dmg from pastily.app, open it and drag Pastily into your Applications folder. One universal build works on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs, and it is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without security warnings.
